Hi! My name is Dawson Panter-Wray and live in Somerset.
I started becoming interested in DJing at a very young age, I have also always had a passion for radio ever since I was very little; I think it started off partly from my dad who’s been involved in radio before and occasionally does DJing at events, so I think I picked it up from there, but also when I was younger I remember watching Radio 1’s Ibiza weekends with their DJ sets from Café Mambo with people like Danny Howard, Annie Mac and MistaJam and I just found it really interesting.
I have a wide variety of music tastes, but they mainly centre around quite mainstream pop and dance music from the 80s (way before I was born!) to the present day. I enjoy playing this wide range of decades because I feel it makes my DJ sets and mixes more inclusive to a much wider audience, I always work on the basis that there should be something for everyone, and that’s what I try to include wherever possible to make as many people as happy as possible.
For over 5 years now, I have done a weekly radio show, previously on a different online radio station but now every Friday night I go in the mix for an hour on Wave Community Radio, a community radio station based near where I live and one that I have become a part of in the last couple of years.
I love playing music to people, it is a feeling that you can’t get in many other situations, even when I am doing my radio show, I think one of the key things about it is knowing that (hopefully!) what you’re doing is cheering someone up or making them feel happier.
One thing about me is that I am always trying to improve, I strive for the best and I’m always learning new techniques to make my sets as dynamic as possible and to try new ideas that others haven’t done yet, all just to make myself stand out that little bit more. Hence why I have decided to go the route of providing visuals in all of my events, something that many other people don’t do.
